How was Startek founded and when did it go public?

Startek was founded in 1987 as StarPak, Inc. in Greeley, Colorado, by Arthur Emmet Stephenson, Jr. (capital) and Michael W. Morgan (expertise). It initially duplicated customer software, packaged it, and arranged shipment, adding phone order service in 1989 and technical support in 1991. Early clients included Federal Express, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Sony.

On December 30, 1996, Emmet Stephenson incorporated StarTek, Inc. in Delaware (SEC CIK 1031029); two days later the new entity acquired StarPak in preparation for going public. StarTek went public on the NYSE in 1997 under ticker SRT at $15/share, raising more than $40 million.

In its first public year, StarTek reported a 25% revenue increase to $89.1 million and a 51% rise in net income to $5.9 million. The company unified Aegis and StarTek under the lowercase 'Startek' brand on August 27, 2019.
